The Assembly Member has called on the Minister of Finance Sammy Wilson to defer any cuts in public expenditure until next year.
Assembly member Brian Wilson said: “It is clear from the recent predictions by the Ulster Bank Quarterly Economic Review that Minister Wilson should take up the option of deferring cuts offered by the Prime Minister David Cameron until next year. This Review confirms previous surveys which show that Northern Ireland is lagging behind the rest of the UK in coming out of the recession and that earlier predictions of growth will not be achieved. Cuts at the present time will create serious problems, particularly for domestically focused companies, which are unable to take advantage of the growth in the rest of Europe and United States.”
